De Bolster has been leading the way in organic seed production for over 45 years. We once started in Kiel-Windeweer, grew further in Epe and now also operate from Moldova. We do business in more than 20 countries.

Among the larger seed companies in the Netherlands, De Bolster is the only player working 100% organically – both in breeding and seed production. We go above and beyond to increase the supply of organic seeds for everyone – from professional growers to home gardeners. Simply driven by the conviction that organic is the way to achieve future-proof agriculture and horticulture.

Over 330 organic varieties

De Bolster produces seeds for more than 330 organic varieties, ranging from vegetables and herbs to flowers and green manures. We do this at various locations worldwide and entirely under our own management. This allows us to guarantee our customers high-quality certified seeds, naturally bred and free from genetic modification (GMO).

Our principle: patent-free

At De Bolster, we believe that organic vegetables should be accessible to everyone worldwide. If we want organic to grow globally, we need each other. From that conviction, we have fought for years against patents on natural traits. No individual or multinational should own characteristics that simply occur in nature, and we will continue to resist this. Therefore, all our varieties are free of patents.

Careers

We are a true family business and a fast-growing organization. An organization of people with a heart for organic and a head for business.
At our main location in Epe, we work with over 60 permanent employees. Each summer, about 60 temporary workers join us to support the peak growing season.

De Bolster as a cooperative: growing further together

Since its founding in 1978, we have worked as a family business for the growth of organic seeds and supported growers with the best varieties for successful organic cultivation.

The realization dawned that we need each other to expand the movement. That is why De Bolster became a cooperative in December 2022. Within two weeks, 4.5 million euros in shares were raised and more than 1,000 people became co-owners. De Bolster is now more than a family business; it has become a collective mission of many passionate people, entrepreneurs and players in the chain.
